New Treads

Early to bed early to rise. Well maybe not. I didn’t get up until 730 this morning and even then Matt had coffee ready for me in my hammock. Allstar!

We were discussing getting another night at the state park, dropping our gear and riding south into Angola for my bike tire. It was getting warmer when we moved camp to a different campsite. With that task out of the way, we began exploring our options to not ride pretty much uphill to the bike shop in the heat. Unloaded yes, but still uphill. As we were getting ready to go, Matt and Silas, a father and son rolled up on bikes and inquired about our tour. They offered to take us to the bike shop in Angola. Soon we were in their car heading to Bike and Soul in Angola. This was such a save as neither of us wanted to ride into town, uphill and in the sun. Rest days are good for rest😀and for bike repairs. When we got back Matt had my new tire on in no time!

Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires after 2 tours. Kevlar showing through.
Schwalbe Hurricane tire with Kevlar. I like the outer tread for grip in the slippery conditions. Thank you Libby at Bike and Soul!

Matt and Silas were up from Fort Wayne, Indiana for a father son weekend. They both are training for Triathlons and have one coming up soon. Best of luck to both of them in their future races!

Our afternoon was spent relaxing in the hammocks, a 2 hour game of scrabble and reaching out to a Warmshowers host Northwest of Fremont, IN. Matt went to the general store and bought pancake mix, eggs and sausage. Breakfast for dinner!

Double decker fluffy buttermilk pancakes with a layer of strawberry jam, peanut butter and a banana on top. Deliciousness!

Practically Desert for dinner. Seconds were eggs over easy on top of pancakes with sausage links. Yum! Dinner for two $12

After dinner it was back to being sweltering hot. We opted for showers to cool us down instead of the walk to and from the lake for swimming. Soon we retreated back to the hammocks and the awesome protection from the mosquitos they provide.

Rest day, not sweat day lol.

Tomorrow we are headed in a Northwesterly direction to Colon, Michegan!
