Great Falls, MD

Wow! What a beautiful sight!! If you ever get the opportunity to take in Great Falls, do it!! Absolutely majestic!!

Matt and I toodled over to Great Falls, took in the views, then had a picnic before heading back to camp.

Majestic Great Falls, MD
Rosie said she didn’t think swimming here was a good idea. She stuck close to Matt and only came out his front pocket for pics.

Lunch today was egg, pepper jack cheese and bacon quesadillas. Made with the only tortillas the squirrels didn’t devour!

We rode back to Swains Lock. Matt headed to camp and I left for the store. Just a few hills to the Safeway in Potomac. I resupplied on some staples, then chose to head down the hill to Great Falls. Good down hills, moderate climb uphill to find that there is a fee to get into the park. $10 for bicycles. Praying I could convince the attendant I was heading to Swains Lock via the canal, I approached the guard shack. The barrier was lifted and I was given access without saying a word. Beautiful.

I rolled back to Swains lock with my supplies. I surprised Matt with some great deals on meat and a jar of Clausen kosher spear pickles. Appetizers of buttered french bread were consumed and dinner prep was soon underway.

Fresh garlic from Matt’s parents garden. Absolutely delicious! Worth the weight…lol it doesn’t hardly weigh anything.

Dinner is served!

Rosemary, garlic and herb parmesian chicken, basil and herb couscous and fresh French bread. Dinner for two under $5!

Making a delicious meal together with the one you love nourishes the soul.

We wrapped our Sunday evening up watching the sun set over the Potomac river.

Matt and I retired to our hammocks. I am thankful for great gear and bug netting.

Tomorrow we head West!
